Its breadth reflects an important shift in metabolic research: from asking only how much weight changes to asking what happens across weight-related conditions.

What was publicly available

By August 30, 2026, TRIUMPH-1 through TRIUMPH-4 had completed and produced some sponsor-disclosed results. None had complete posted registry results or a full peer-reviewed results paper.

TRIUMPH-1 reported large week-80 body-weight changes and higher-dose appendix findings for obstructive sleep apnea and knee-osteoarthritis pain. TRIUMPH-2 reported body-weight and glycemic endpoint changes in a population with type 2 diabetes, but its completed sleep-apnea appendix result was not disclosed. TRIUMPH-3 studied participants with severe obesity and established cardiovascular disease; investigators reported changes in weight and risk-factor measures without establishing cardiovascular-event reduction. TRIUMPH-4 reported changes in body weight, knee pain, and physical-function endpoints.

Understanding what has reported

A completed registry status means participant follow-up reached the registered endpoint. Public results are still needed to learn whether the endpoint was met, what adverse events occurred, and how the analysis was conducted.

This distinction lets the library celebrate the results that are available without filling unreleased portions of the program with assumptions. It also keeps reported and still-pending appendices visibly separate.

Sponsor announcements and conference presentations are meaningful early windows into large randomized trials. Full publications add the details needed for deeper appraisal, including:

  • Complete participant disposition
  • Confidence intervals for every important endpoint
  • Multiplicity testing details
  • Full adverse-event and serious-adverse-event tables
  • Protocol deviations and missing-data sensitivity analyses
  • Detailed subgroup and appendix results

For that reason, the TRIUMPH findings should be described as randomized sponsor-reported results, not as if they already had the completeness of a peer-reviewed primary paper.

The most important pending trials

TRIUMPH-5 directly compares retatrutide with tirzepatide. TRIUMPH-9 evaluates escalation strategies and longer treatment. TRIUMPH-Outcomes is the approximately 10,000-participant, event-driven study designed to assess cardiovascular and kidney outcomes.

Those trials address questions that existing numerical comparisons cannot settle.

Bottom line

The TRIUMPH program has moved retatrutide from an impressive Phase 2 concept into a broad late-stage research platform. Large randomized trials have reported positive weight, glycemic, sleep-apnea, pain, and function findings. Full publications, outcome-trial data, and longer safety follow-up will determine how broad and durable that promise proves to be.
